Chelsea are prepared to sell winger Alejandro Garnacho just one year after his arrival from Manchester United, according to multiple reports including The Athletic. The move is intended to improve the club’s financial position following significant losses reported in the previous financial year.
Two unnamed Champions League clubs have reportedly expressed interest in the 21-year-old Argentine, with speculation in recent days linking AS Roma and Napoli as potential destinations. Garnacho joined Chelsea last summer but has not established himself as a regular starter, making a sale a pragmatic option for the club.
Chelsea are also actively pursuing Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that personal terms have already been agreed with the 28-year-old. However, Rayo Vallecano are proving difficult to negotiate with, seeking a fee of €50 million to reflect Chavarria’s release clause. Chelsea have already had bids of €9 million and €15 million rejected and are preparing a new, improved offer.
Another potential target, Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix, will require patience according to Romano. Palace are reluctant to allow the defender to leave without securing a replacement first, meaning any deal will depend on Chelsea’s ability to meet Palace’s demands and facilitate a suitable incoming transfer for the London club.
Chelsea appear to have cooled their interest in Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers, as reported by The Athletic. Rogers’ high price tag – potentially a British record fee exceeding €150 million, following Elliot Anderson’s recent move – and competition from other clubs have led Chelsea to reassess their options.
On the domestic front, Chelsea are close to agreeing a new contract with 19-year-old midfielder Jesse Derry, as reported by the BBC. Despite his current contract running until 2029, the club is eager to reward Derry with improved terms and ward off interest from other European clubs. Derry made his senior debut for Chelsea in the FA Cup in February before suffering an injury.
