Nnamdi Collins will remain at Eintracht Frankfurt beyond the summer transfer window, according to a report from Frankfurter Rundschau. The 22-year-old defender had been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool all reportedly interested in securing his signature.
Collins emerged as a potential target for several English clubs following a series of promising performances for Frankfurt, particularly since the turn of the year. The centre-back, who is also capable of playing at right-back, has demonstrated versatility and defensive solidity, attracting attention from teams seeking to bolster their backlines. However, Eintracht Frankfurt appears resolute in their decision to retain the player.
Club chief Markus Krösche is said to be unwilling to sanction a sale, with the report stating that Collins will “definitely” stay at the Bundesliga club. This decision is largely influenced by recent departures within the Frankfurt squad. The club has already lost Nathaniel Brown to Bayern Munich and Rasmus Kristensen to FC Midtjylland, both of whom were key full-backs for the team.
Retaining Collins addresses a significant need for depth and quality in Frankfurt’s defensive options. The player now has a clear pathway to establish himself as a regular starter under newly appointed head coach Adi Hütter. Collins joined Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2023 from Paderborn, quickly becoming an important squad member.
The decision to keep Collins provides Frankfurt with a stable defensive presence as they prepare for the upcoming season and potentially European competition. His ability to cover multiple positions will be particularly valuable for Hütter as he looks to build a competitive squad.
