Como have bolstered their squad with the addition of two promising young talents, Andres Cuenca and Adrian Lahdo, ahead of the upcoming Serie A season. Cuenca, a 19-year-old central defender, joins from Barcelona, while 18-year-old midfielder Lahdo arrives from Hammarby.
Cuenca’s transfer was completed during the winter transfer window for a fee of approximately €500,000, with Barcelona retaining a percentage of any future sale. He spent the latter half of last season on loan at Sporting Gijon in the Spanish second division, where he featured regularly when fit, missing ten matches due to a muscle injury. The defender is a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, having even made a brief Champions League appearance for the club in October 2024. He is described as a modern central defender, possessing strong vision, passing ability, and intelligent tackling.
Lahdo’s acquisition came at a higher price, with Como paying €12 million to secure his services, beating competition from Chelsea. He has spent the last six months integrating with both Como’s Primavera youth team and the first team. Fabregas views Lahdo as a dynamic, modern midfielder capable of driving forward and making late runs into the box. The Swedish youth international is versatile, able to play in a two-man midfield or as an attacking midfielder. Como have demonstrated their faith in Lahdo’s potential by offering him a long-term contract extending until 2031.
According to comments made to Fotbollskanalen, Lahdo is eager to make his debut for Como after a full pre-season. He expressed confidence from his conversations with coach Cesc Fabregas and club staff, who have reportedly been pleased with his progress. With three competitions on the horizon for Como, Fabregas is expected to utilize squad rotation, potentially providing opportunities for both Cuenca and Lahdo to feature prominently. These signings address a need for depth in their respective positions, particularly given concerns over the fitness of Goldaniga and the limited options beyond Perrone and Da Cunha in midfield.
