Como are exploring a move for Juventus wing-back Andrea Cambiaso as they prepare for their first season competing in European competitions, according to reports in Italy. The club, managed by Cesc Fabregas, needs to bolster its squad with players who qualify as locally trained to meet UEFA squad registration requirements.
Como are specifically looking to strengthen their options on the flanks, and Cambiaso has emerged as an ideal, though challenging, target. Despite being a regular starter for Juventus, the 26-year-old’s versatility aligns with Fabregas’s preferred playing style. Initial contact has been made, but securing his signature is expected to be difficult.
Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti values Cambiaso highly, having previously worked with him during his time as Italy’s national team coach. Spalletti appreciates Cambiaso’s passing range, ball control, and dynamic movement. However, Juventus are open to offers for several players, with Cambiaso potentially available if a sufficiently high bid is received, with Kenan Yildiz being the only player considered untouchable. A failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League would likely increase the likelihood of Cambiaso’s departure.
While Cambiaso is the primary target, Como are also considering alternative options. Bologna’s Nicolò Cambiaghi is valued at around €15 million, significantly less than the estimated €30 million-plus it would take to acquire Cambiaso. Other players under consideration include Fiorentina’s Fabiano Parisi, Lazio’s Luca Pellegrini, and Roma’s Lorenzo Venturino. Como view Cambiaso as their dream signing, but recognize the financial challenges involved in bringing him to the club.
Como’s need to comply with UEFA regulations is driving their pursuit of Italian players, and the club is actively exploring several avenues to strengthen their squad ahead of their European debut.
