Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta has publicly criticized the recent form of Christian Pulisic, highlighting a significant goal drought for the American winger. The comments came during a Sky Sport analysis following Milan's 0-0 Serie A draw with Juventus on Saturday, a result that underscored the team's ongoing offensive struggles.
Costacurta did not hold back in his assessment, stating Pulisic had played "the worst game" of his Milan tenure against Juventus and labeling him "the worst on the pitch." The critique focuses on a stark decline in output for a player who has been a key figure since arriving at the San Siro. According to the report, Pulisic's last goal for the Rossoneri dates back to December 28, 2025, in a 3-0 win over Verona, meaning he has now gone 16 consecutive matches without scoring.
This run equals a personal negative record Pulisic previously set during his time at Chelsea. In that same 16-game period, the US international has managed only a single assist, provided for Adrien Rabiot in a March win over Torino. Manager Massimiliano Allegri has continued to select Pulisic regularly, but the player's influence has visibly waned. Allegri himself suggested post-match that Pulisic is struggling within the team's current 3-5-2 system, suffering from the lack of a dedicated central striker ahead of him.
Costacurta also extended his criticism to star forward Rafael Leão, stating the Portuguese winger "continues to not convince" him. He pointed to a lack of defensive effort from Leão when Milan are out of possession, a recurring theme in analyses of the team's inconsistent performances this season. The combined dip in form from two of Milan's primary attacking threats has contributed to a broader team crisis, with the club scoring only one goal throughout the entire month of April.
The public nature of Costacurta's comments, coming from a respected club legend, adds significant pressure on both players and the coaching staff. With Milan's objectives for the season still in the balance, Allegri will need to find a solution to reignite his attack, whether through a tactical shift or improved performances from his key men. The coming weeks will be crucial for Pulisic to break his barren run and for Milan to rediscover their scoring touch as the campaign reaches its climax.
