Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio has publicly distanced himself from strongly worded criticism of the club made by his agent, Carlo Alberto Belloni, and agency CA Management. Belloni’s agency released a statement accusing Juventus of wasting 130 million euros on “unpresentable” attackers and blaming Di Gregorio for the team’s failures this season.
Di Gregorio responded via Instagram, stating that while he has a strong relationship with his agency and procurator, he disagreed with the comments made about his teammates, for whom he holds “great esteem and respect.” He affirmed his continued professionalism and commitment to the club, stating he would continue to respect his colleagues and honor the Juventus shirt.
The outburst from Di Gregorio’s representation has created a difficult situation for Juventus, who were already attempting to navigate a potential departure for the player. The club had previously explored a loan deal with option to buy with Besiktas, but that possibility has become more complicated as potential buyers may now seek to leverage the fractured relationship between player and club.
Juventus officials are reportedly frustrated by the damage to Di Gregorio’s market value, considering his recent performances and the public controversy. The club is prioritizing building a cohesive team environment, and the incident raises questions about Di Gregorio’s long-term future in Turin. Manager Luciano Spalletti is known for prioritizing a strong dressing room dynamic and has previously been decisive in moving on from players whose representatives create external conflicts.
Despite the turmoil surrounding Di Gregorio, Juventus remains active in the transfer market for a new goalkeeper. While initial talks for Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez have cooled due to valuation discrepancies, the club is now intensifying negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur for Guglielmo Vicario. Juventus prefers a loan with an option to buy, while Tottenham is seeking a guaranteed future transfer. The situation with Di Gregorio may accelerate the pursuit of Vicario or another goalkeeping target.
