Corinne Diacre has left Olympique de Marseille by mutual consent, the club confirmed on Wednesday. The departure comes after Diacre successfully guided the team to maintain its position in Ligue 1 following their promotion, most recently securing a crucial victory against Lens.
Diacre, who also managed the French women’s national team, took charge of the Marseille squad with the primary objective of avoiding immediate relegation back to the second tier. She achieved this goal, ensuring the club’s continued presence in the top flight for the upcoming season. The club stated in an official release that both parties agreed not to extend their collaboration beyond the current campaign.
Prior to taking the reins at Marseille, Diacre had a notable career managing the French women’s national team, where she led them to a quarter-final appearance at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Her appointment at Marseille was seen as a move to stabilize the team and provide experienced leadership during a challenging period.
The club has indicated that the search for a new manager is underway and an announcement regarding the successor will be made in due course. Diacre’s departure marks the end of a short but impactful spell with Marseille, and the club will now look to build on the foundation she established as they prepare for the next Ligue 1 season. This move allows Marseille to pursue a manager who aligns with their long-term vision for the women’s team.
