Kadidiatou Diani has announced her departure from Olympique Lyonnais Féminin, one year before the expiration of her contract, the player revealed on social media Monday evening. The 31-year-old France international confirmed her exit in a video posted to her accounts, thanking the club and its supporters for their support during her time in Lyon.
Diani expressed gratitude for the experiences and relationships she forged at OL Lyonnes, stating she had grown both personally and professionally during her three years with the club. She emphasized that her departure should not be considered a final goodbye, but rather ‘a little see you later’ and that Lyon would always hold a special place in her heart.
The forward suffered a knee injury during the Champions League semi-final and subsequently underwent surgery, causing her to miss the final matches of the season. Despite the injury, Diani still managed to contribute five goals and two assists in 16 appearances during her most recent campaign. Overall, she secured five trophies with the club, including three consecutive league titles.
Diani arrived at Lyon from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 and quickly established herself as a key player. Her future destination remains undisclosed, with potential moves to England or the United States being speculated. The club has yet to comment on potential replacements, but the departure of a player of Diani’s calibre will undoubtedly impact their attacking options. The forward has 41 goals for the club during her tenure.
