Juventus have officially signed forward Jeff Ekhator from Genoa, the club confirmed on Thursday. The transfer sees the young Italian attacker join Luciano Spalletti’s squad as they begin pre-season preparations.
Ekhator arrives in Turin with Juventus supporters awaiting significant additions to the squad, particularly in attack. The club has been relatively quiet in the transfer window thus far, with the absence of major signings reflected in the modest turnout of approximately fifty fans at the J Medical center for the players’ routine medical checks. This contrasts sharply with the large crowds that greeted previous high-profile arrivals, such as Cristiano Ronaldo.
Juventus are still reportedly pursuing other attacking options, including Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain and Alexander Sorloth from Atletico Madrid. However, Ekhator represents the first new face of the summer for Spalletti, and is expected to compete for a place as a third-choice forward. The move comes following Juventus’s departure from Dusan Vlahovic, who recently became a free agent.
Several players are facing uncertain futures at the club. Arthur, returning from a loan spell at Gremio, is entering his fifth summer at Juventus while seeking a new destination, though his contract runs until 2027. Daniele Rugani and Joao Mario have also returned from loan spells at Fiorentina and Bologna, respectively. Douglas Luiz, who had a difficult relationship with the club last season, is attempting to impress Spalletti and secure his place in the squad after previous unsuccessful loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.
Goalkeeper Mattia Di Gregorio is expected to depart, with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez and Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario both being considered as potential replacements. Other players potentially leaving the club include forwards Lois Openda and Arek Milik, and Juan Cabal. Defenders Gatti and Kelly, and midfielders Zhegrova and Khephren Thuram are also facing uncertain futures at the Allianz Stadium.
