Ruben Dias has reportedly informed his representatives to explore potential transfer options away from Manchester City following the announcement of Pep Guardiola’s departure at the end of the season, according to Caught Offside. The Portugal international is said to be unsettled by the news, despite having a contract with the club until 2029.
Manchester City finished second in the Premier League last week, seven points behind Arsenal, and Guardiola officially confirmed his exit last Friday after a decade at the Etihad Stadium. His influence on the club has been significant, and his departure appears to have prompted Dias to consider his future.
Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid have all reportedly reignited their interest in the 26-year-old centre-back, who is currently valued at around €60 million. Dias has been a key figure in City’s defence since joining from Benfica in 2020, helping the club secure multiple Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy.
Former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce described Guardiola’s exit as “sad for football in this country”, praising his impact on the league and the game as a whole. Allardyce believes Guardiola’s influence has been instrumental in elevating the Premier League to its current status as the best in the world.
Real Madrid’s interest in Dias comes amidst speculation that the Spanish club are preparing for potential departures in their own defensive ranks, with both David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger potentially leaving this summer. The club is seemingly preparing for a defensive overhaul. A move for Dias would provide a high-quality replacement and strengthen their backline.
