Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly agreed personal terms with RB Leipzig defender Yan Diomande ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to Foot Mercato. The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international has publicly expressed his long-held affection for the French champions, further fueling speculation surrounding a move.
Speaking while on international duty with Ivory Coast, Diomande revealed a childhood fondness for PSG, stating to L’Équipe, “I have loved PSG since I was a kid, but I am not looking ahead to my future. I am staying focused on the World Cup, then we will see.” He elaborated to Téléfoot, adding that playing for one of the biggest clubs would be a “pleasure” and highlighting the ease of adaptation due to his familiarity with the French language.
Diomande’s father is a supporter of PSG, a connection the player acknowledged with delight recalling the club’s Champions League successes. Despite his clear enthusiasm, Diomande maintained his current focus is on representing his country at the World Cup, deferring discussions about his club future to his representatives. “I have a team that takes care of [my future]. I’m trying to stay as focused as possible,” he said.
RB Leipzig, however, appear relaxed about the situation, with managing director for sport Marcel Schäfer telling Sport Bild that the club are not actively seeking to sell Diomande, who is under contract until 2030 and has no release clause. Nevertheless, Bulinews sources indicate that Leipzig could be persuaded to part with their prized asset for a fee exceeding €100 million.
Diomande has quickly established himself as a key player for Leipzig since joining from Cercle Brugge in January 2023, making 15 appearances across all competitions. His performances have drawn attention from several top European clubs, but PSG’s strong interest and Diomande’s personal connection to the club appear to give them a significant advantage. Should a deal materialise, it would provide PSG with a long-term solution at centre-back and further strengthen their already formidable squad.
