Borussia Dortmund are considering a summer transfer for Brøndby IF midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic, according to Sky Germany. The 23-year-old has reportedly been a candidate for the Bundesliga side for several months, with interest predating the current World Cup tournament.
Initial interest in Tahirovic came during the tenure of former Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl, though that pursuit cooled after his departure. Current sporting director Ole Book has since taken over, but the Bosnian international remains on Dortmund’s transfer shortlist. The club is reportedly attracted by the relatively low potential transfer fee, believed to be under €10 million.
Tahirovic has become a regular for Brøndby, establishing himself as a key player in the Danish Superliga. He has also featured prominently for the Bosnia & Herzegovina national team, starting in two of their three matches at the 2026 World Cup. The midfielder has earned 31 caps for his country overall, demonstrating his growing international experience.
Tahirovic’s current contract with Brøndby runs until 2028, offering the Danish club a strong negotiating position. However, Dortmund’s potential offer could prove appealing for both parties, providing Tahirovic with an opportunity to compete in the Champions League and further his career in one of Europe’s top leagues. Dortmund, meanwhile, would add a promising young midfielder to their squad at a reasonable price.
The transfer would address a need in Dortmund’s midfield, providing depth and competition for places. Should Tahirovic join, he would likely compete with players such as Emre Can and Marcel Sabitzer for a starting role, adding tactical flexibility to the team.
