Inter will not receive the expected €7.5 million from the permanent transfer of Ebenezer Akinsanmiro to Pisa, as the deal has collapsed due to bureaucratic obstacles, according to reports in Italy. The move, which included an €8.5 million buy-back clause for Inter, fell through after scrutiny from league officials.
According to sources, the transfer was halted during the final stages of document exchange when Pisa failed to meet the financial requirements necessary to validate the agreement initially struck in the summer of 2025. The club’s recent relegation to Serie B appears to have contributed to concerns regarding their economic stability and ability to complete the deal. This failure also invalidates the buy-back clause Inter had secured.
Akinsanmiro, a 2004-born midfielder, enjoyed a positive season with Pisa, providing one assist in 24 appearances despite the team’s struggles. Despite this setback, Inter are not expected to retain the player and are actively seeking alternative offers. The club’s leadership is open to another permanent sale.
Interest in Akinsanmiro has reportedly emerged from two clubs in the Bundesliga and one in the Premier League, suggesting a competitive market for the young Nigerian international. Inter’s director Beppe Marotta and the club’s hierarchy will now reassess their transfer plans ahead of the upcoming summer window, seeking to recoup funds from other potential departures. The collapse of this deal highlights the increasing scrutiny of club finances within Italian football and the potential for deals to fall through at the last minute due to administrative issues.
