Arsenal have agreed a €20 million deal to sell defender Jakub Kiwior to Porto, according to reports in Portugal. The transfer, confirmed by Record, will see the 26-year-old Poland international join the Portuguese club on a permanent basis, signing a four-year contract after spending the 2025-26 season there on loan.
Kiwior arrived at Arsenal from Spezia in January 2023 but struggled to secure a regular starting role under manager Mikel Arteta. He was subsequently loaned to Porto last summer, where he made 37 appearances across all competitions, convincing the Primeira Liga side to activate a purchase option. The deal represents Arsenal's first significant outgoing transaction ahead of the 2026 summer window and provides the club with immediate funds to reinvest in the squad.
The sale is part of a broader squad renovation planned by Arteta and sporting director Edu. Arsenal are expected to be active in the left-back market, with concerns over the fitness of Riccardo Calafiori and the limited involvement of Myles Lewis-Skiley. The club holds an option to make Piero Hincapie's loan from Bayer Leverkusen permanent for €52 million and has also been linked with a move for Newcastle United's Tino Livramento, as previously reported by FootballTransfers.
Further departures are anticipated, particularly in attacking areas. Both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, whose contracts expire in 2027, could potentially make way for a new left-sided forward. The future of striker Gabriel Jesus, who has seen his minutes reduced following an ACL injury and also has a deal running until 2027, is similarly uncertain.
The €20 million fee from Kiwior's sale could also facilitate investment in younger talent. Arsenal have been linked with a move for 17-year-old Red Star Belgrade attacking midfielder Vasilije Kostov. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that the Gunners are monitoring the Serbian wonderkid closely, with Serbian outlet Sportinjo reporting a potential package worth €12 million upfront plus €8 million in bonuses. Romano emphasized that while a deal is not yet advanced, Arsenal's interest in securing promising talents like Kostov is genuine.
Kiwior's departure, therefore, while not a seismic move in itself, marks the beginning of a pivotal transfer period for Arsenal. The capital generated provides flexibility as the club aims to refresh key positions, balancing immediate first-team needs with strategic investments for the future.
