Atlético de Madrid have taken a playful jab at Barcelona, publicly posting a series of outlandish transfer offers for several of the Catalan club’s key players. The social media campaign, launched on May 29th, 2026, appears to be a response to ongoing speculation linking Atlético’s Julián Álvarez with a move to the Camp Nou.
The first offer, directed towards securing the services of Lamine Yamal, consisted of four tickets to a Bad Bunny concert, an annual subscription to the ABC newspaper, and a bag of sunflower seeds. This was followed by a proposal of six tickets to another Bad Bunny concert, this time on Sunday, in exchange for Pedri. Atlético then upped the ante, offering a season-long loan deal for Raphinha in exchange for Atlético players Tom Ford and Smith, with no option to buy.
The club shared images of the “fax” offers on their official Twitter account, complete with the hashtag “HERE WE GO!”, a phrase commonly used by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano to announce completed deals. The posts were clearly intended as satire, a lighthearted response to the rumours surrounding Álvarez.
Álvarez has been a consistent performer for Atlético, contributing significantly to their attacking play. The Argentina international has been linked with several top European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, due to his goal-scoring ability and versatility. Barcelona’s reported interest stems from their need to bolster their attacking options, particularly with concerns over the long-term fitness of some existing players.
Atlético’s public trolling is a demonstration of their determination to retain Álvarez, signaling they will not easily part with a valuable asset. While the offers are clearly not serious, they highlight the club’s frustration with the ongoing speculation and their commitment to keeping their squad intact. The situation could potentially escalate if Barcelona make a formal bid, but for now, Atlético appears content to respond with humour.
