Bayern Munich have identified Eintracht Frankfurt full-back Nathaniel Brown as a key transfer target this summer, following discussions with head coach Vincent Kompany. According to BILD, Kompany spoke with Brown at the end of the season to outline his plans for the player should he move to the Allianz Arena.
Initially, Kompany did not foresee a need to strengthen the left-back position, placing his faith in Alphonso Davies. However, a series of injuries to Davies throughout the season prompted a reassessment of squad depth, elevating the signing of a new left-back to a priority.
Brown has emerged as the preferred candidate, and the report indicates he is only interested in a move to Bayern despite attracting attention from other prominent European clubs, including Arsenal and Real Madrid. The player’s desire to remain in Germany and the opportunity to work under Kompany are cited as key factors in his decision.
Brown has established himself as a consistent performer in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt, featuring regularly in their starting eleven. He offers a dynamic attacking threat and solid defensive capabilities, attributes that would complement Kompany’s tactical approach. The exact transfer fee remains undisclosed at this time.
The potential arrival of Brown could also impact the future of Alphonso Davies at Bayern. The club are reportedly open to considering offers for the Canadian international, whose high wages – estimated between €15-20 million gross per year – and long-term contract until 2030 represent a significant financial commitment.
Representatives from Saudi Arabian clubs have reportedly made preliminary inquiries regarding Davies’ availability, although no concrete offers have materialized. Bayern’s willingness to entertain offers for Davies suggests they are prepared to reshape their left-back options ahead of the new season, with Brown potentially taking on a prominent role. This move would provide Kompany with further options and competition in a key position.
