Bayern Munich are preparing a player-plus-cash offer for Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon, with goalkeeper Alexander Nubel set to be included in the deal, according to reports in Germany. The move comes as Arsenal and Liverpool also monitor Gordon’s situation, though Bayern are currently considered the frontrunners for his signature.
Gordon has become a key player for Newcastle since joining from Everton in January 2023, scoring 17 goals in all competitions this past season. His performances have attracted interest from several top clubs, with Arsenal reportedly continuing to assess the 25-year-old ahead of a potential summer move, as per The Guardian. Liverpool have also identified Gordon as a potential alternative to RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande in their search for a replacement for Mohamed Salah, according to The Telegraph.
However, Bayern are hesitant to meet Newcastle’s asking price of €86million (£75m) for Gordon. To bridge the gap, the Bundesliga champions are willing to offer Nubel as part of the transfer package, as reported by BILD. Newcastle are believed to be in the market for two goalkeepers this summer, with doubts surrounding the permanent signing of loanee Aaron Ramsdale and concerns over Nick Pope’s recent form.
Nubel has struggled for consistent playing time at Bayern since joining from Schalke in 2020, making only four appearances for the club. The 29-year-old has spent the last five seasons on loan, most recently with Stuttgart, where he made 127 appearances and won the 2025 German Cup alongside current Newcastle striker Nick Woltemade. Bayern’s willingness to include Nubel stems from the recent one-year contract extension for Manuel Neuer and the emergence of Jonas Urbig as a promising goalkeeping prospect.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Gordon’s future after the final Premier League match of the season, stating he “didn’t know” if the forward had played his last game for the club. Gordon is currently preparing for the World Cup with England. A move to Bayern would likely see Gordon feature prominently in their attack, while Nubel could provide much-needed competition and depth in Newcastle’s goalkeeping department.
