Chelsea are prepared to sell forward Liam Delap this summer, with Everton and Newcastle United among the clubs monitoring his situation, according to TEAMtalk. The 23-year-old joined Chelsea from Ipswich Town last year for a reported £30 million, but struggled to make an impact in his debut season, scoring just two goals in 41 appearances.
Delap’s first campaign at Stamford Bridge was hampered by a combination of poor form, injuries, and competition for places, particularly from Joao Pedro. Despite this, several clubs are still believed to be interested in the player, anticipating a return to the form he displayed with Ipswich Town in the 2024/25 season.
Newcastle have long been admirers of Delap and are considering him as a potential addition to their attacking options under Eddie Howe. Everton, who previously showed strong interest before his move to Chelsea, are also keen to strengthen their forward line, especially with uncertainty surrounding the future of Thierno Barry, who is reportedly attracting attention from RB Leipzig. Should Barry depart, Delap is considered a high priority target for the Toffees.
Tottenham Hotspur have also made initial enquiries, but have yet to make a formal offer. Chelsea are seeking to recoup at least £40 million for Delap, although sources suggest a deal closer to the original £30 million fee may be possible as the transfer window progresses. The Blues are reportedly open to reshaping their forward line with the arrival of new manager Xabi Alonso, and one striker departure is anticipated.
Despite the speculation, Delap has publicly expressed his desire to remain at Chelsea and fight for his place. He is hoping to impress Alonso and earn more playing time, but Chelsea are willing to sanction a sale if a suitable bid is received. The situation remains fluid, and Delap’s future is likely to be resolved later in the transfer window.
