Como 1907 have initiated discussions with Borussia Dortmund regarding a potential permanent transfer for Brazilian wing-back Yan Couto, Ruhr Nachrichten reports. Dortmund are reportedly seeking a fee of approximately €25 million for the player, matching the sum they paid to Manchester City to secure his services in 2024.
The interest from Como comes amid reports that Couto is dissatisfied with his current playing time at the Bundesliga club. While the 24-year-old does not wish to actively push for a departure, he is open to considering opportunities where he would feature more prominently. Last season, Couto made 11 Bundesliga starts for Dortmund, contributing with consistent performances but not establishing himself as an undroppable member of the starting eleven.
Couto originally joined Manchester City in 2020, but spent time on loan at Girona in Spain before eventually moving to Dortmund. He has represented Brazil at youth levels and possesses a reputation as an industrious and technically gifted full-back, capable of contributing both defensively and in attack. Dortmund signed Couto permanently last year, demonstrating their initial faith in his abilities, but his limited game time has prompted speculation about his future.
Como, recently promoted to Serie A, are embarking on an ambitious project under new ownership, aiming to establish themselves as a competitive force in Italian football. The club are actively investing in their squad and see Couto as a potential key addition, capable of providing width and energy to their team. A move to Italy would offer Couto the chance to play regular first-team football and further develop his career in a top European league. Should the transfer materialize, it would represent a significant investment for Como and a potential opportunity for Couto to become a more integral player.
