Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has confirmed that the club is in daily discussions with Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana regarding a permanent transfer this summer. The 30-year-old spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Trabzonspor, where he played a key role in their Turkish Cup triumph, a 2-1 victory over Konyaspor.
Onana lost his starting position at Old Trafford to Altay Bayindir prior to his loan spell, and Manchester United now appear willing to sell the Cameroon international. Despite having two years remaining on his contract with Michael Carrick’s side, the club is reportedly open to his departure before the transfer window closes on September 1st. Trabzonspor have expressed a strong desire to re-sign him.
Dogan stated to reporters, as reported by The Mirror, “We speak with Onana every day. We won't have any financial difficulties.” However, he also cautioned that the club would be prepared to pursue alternative goalkeeping options if Manchester United demand an unreasonable transfer fee. “We'll make the necessary sacrifices. I don't think we will experience any setbacks. But if we do, we will find another goalkeeper of the same quality,” Dogan added.
Manchester United are anticipating a busy summer window, with several players expected to leave the club. Manuel Ugarte is also set to depart on a permanent deal, while speculation continues to surround the future of Joshua Zirkzee. Rasmus Hojlund has already completed a €44 million move to Napoli after a successful loan period, and Casemiro will leave on a free transfer when his contract expires. The club has reportedly agreed a deal to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson, and are also considering Alex Scott, Carlos Baleba, and Mateus Fernandes as potential reinforcements in central midfield. A new left-back and left winger are also priorities, with Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall identified as a target.
