Borussia Dortmund have initiated discussions with representatives of AS Roma attacker Matías Soulé regarding a possible transfer during the summer window, Sky Germany reports. The Bundesliga side are currently demonstrating the strongest interest in acquiring the 23-year-old Argentinian international, according to Italian transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Soulé joined Roma from Juventus in July 2023 on an initial loan deal, which was made permanent in January 2024. He has quickly become a key figure in Daniele De Rossi’s squad, showcasing versatility across the attacking line. During the recently concluded 2025/26 season, Soulé registered seven goals and eight assists in 42 appearances across all competitions, establishing himself as a creative force for the Italian club.
Roma are believed to be reluctant to sell, but Soulé’s contract includes a release clause in the region of €25-30 million. Dortmund’s interest comes as they assess options to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season, potentially replacing players or adding depth to their existing squad. The club finished fifth in the Bundesliga last season, missing out on Champions League qualification, and are aiming to strengthen their team to challenge for a top-four spot.
Soulé is comfortable playing on the right wing, centrally as an attacking midfielder, or as a secondary striker, offering tactical flexibility that appeals to Dortmund manager Edin Terzić. He originally came through the Juventus youth system, making his senior debut for the Turin club in 2020 before a loan spell at Hellas Verona. His performances for Roma have significantly raised his profile, attracting attention from several European clubs, but Dortmund appear to be leading the chase at this stage. A successful transfer could provide Dortmund with a dynamic attacking option and further elevate Soulé’s career on the European stage.
