Pau López, the former Olympique de Marseille goalkeeper, has signed a permanent deal with FC Andorra, the club confirmed. The Spanish international, who has earned two caps for his country, will seek regular playing time with the club based in the Pyrenees mountains. Contract details regarding the transfer have not been disclosed.
López’s move to Andorra comes after a period of limited playing time following his departure from Marseille. He has had spells with Real Betis, Girona, and most recently, Toluca in Mexico, none of which fully established him as a first-choice keeper. The 38-year-old will be hoping to rediscover his form and become a key player for Gerard Piqué’s side.
FC Andorra, despite its name, competes within the Spanish football league system, currently playing in the Segunda División – the second tier of Spanish football. The club has been under the ownership of Gerard Piqué and his Kosmos group since 2018, achieving promotion to the Segunda División in 2022. Piqué’s involvement has brought significant attention to the club, and López’s arrival adds another experienced player to their squad.
The transfer represents an opportunity for López to reignite his career in a league he is familiar with. While the Segunda División is not the top flight, it offers a competitive environment and a chance for López to showcase his abilities. For FC Andorra, the signing provides an experienced goalkeeper who could potentially help the club achieve its ambitions of climbing higher within the Spanish football pyramid.
