Eintracht Frankfurt have registered their interest in Rangers midfielder Connor Barron, according to Sky Sports. The Bundesliga side are considering a potential move for the 23-year-old, who also reportedly attracts attention from Serie A clubs Bologna and Lazio. Frankfurt are evaluating multiple defensive midfield options, having previously been linked with Robert Andrich of Bayer Leverkusen, Raphaël Onyedika from Club Brugge, and West Ham’s Edson Álvarez.
Barron joined Rangers in 2024 on a free transfer from Aberdeen, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the Scottish Premiership. The Scotland international made 37 appearances across all competitions for Rangers last season, demonstrating his consistency and importance to the team’s midfield. He has two years remaining on his current contract at Ibrox, potentially creating a window for clubs to secure his signature this summer.
Frankfurt are likely seeking midfield reinforcement ahead of the new season, aiming to build upon their Bundesliga performance. The club finished seventh in the league last term, missing out on European qualification, and strengthening the defensive midfield area is seen as a priority. Barron’s ability to break up play and contribute to build-up could be a valuable asset for Dino Toppmöller’s side.
For Barron, a move to the Bundesliga would represent a significant step in his career, offering the chance to test himself in one of Europe’s top five leagues. While he has become a regular starter for Rangers, the opportunity to play in a different footballing environment and potentially compete in European competitions could be appealing. No fee has been reported at this stage, and it remains to be seen whether any of the interested clubs will submit a formal offer for the player. A departure could leave a void in the Rangers midfield, requiring manager Philippe Clement to seek a replacement.
