Concerns are growing over the future of Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz following the club’s disappointing sixth-place finish in Serie A and the likely absence of Champions League football next season. The 21-year-old’s situation has come under scrutiny after a visibly emotional Yildiz was seen in tears on the bench during the recent defeat to Fiorentina, a result that significantly hampered Juventus’s chances of securing a top-four spot.
This season, Yildiz has contributed 11 goals and 10 assists in 47 appearances, a performance level comparable to his previous campaign where he recorded 12 goals and 9 assists in 52 games. However, a recent dip in form, with no goals in the last two months, has raised questions about his consistency. The club has revealed that Yildiz has been managing a patellar tendinopathy throughout the season, which has impacted his physical condition and performance in recent weeks, affecting his speed and dribbling ability.
Despite the physical challenges, Yildiz remains focused on representing Turkey at the upcoming European Championship, postponing any deeper consideration of his club future until after the tournament. He has consistently expressed his strong connection to Juventus, praising manager Massimiliano Allegri and describing their relationship as positive and mutually respectful. Allegri has also publicly lauded Yildiz, acknowledging his importance to the team’s project.
Juventus’s performance has been heavily influenced by Yildiz’s contributions over the past two seasons, with 23 goals and 19 assists in 99 matches. When Yildiz impacts the game positively, the team averages 2.42 points per match, a rate consistent with a title-challenging side. Conversely, when he fails to contribute, that average drops to 1.47 points, suggesting a mid-table performance.
He recently signed a contract extension until 2030, with an annual salary of €6 million plus bonuses, reflecting his status as a key player. However, Juventus may consider offers exceeding nine figures should they fail to qualify for the Champions League. Speculation suggests Real Madrid, seeking to rebuild after a disappointing season, could be a potential suitor. Yildiz is hoping for a Juventus side capable of challenging for the Scudetto and making a deeper run in the Champions League. His current statistics, however, are not yet comparable to those of other young stars in Europe, such as Ernest Nuamah and Arda Guler.
