Galatasaray have registered their interest in signing Julian Brandt from Borussia Dortmund, according to Sky Germany. The Turkish Süper Lig champions have made contact with Brandt’s representatives as they seek to bolster their squad following a title-winning season. The 30-year-old is currently out of contract with Dortmund, making him a free agent this summer.
Brandt has been a consistent performer for Dortmund since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019, contributing goals and assists from an attacking midfield role. He featured in 33 Bundesliga matches last season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists. While his recent form has been solid, Dortmund have not offered him a contract extension, opening the door for a move elsewhere.
Galatasaray’s interest comes amidst reported inquiries from Major League Soccer and Japan, though Brandt is reportedly prioritizing a move to a club competing in the Champions League. Spain remains his preferred destination, with Atlético Madrid and Barcelona both previously linked with the German international. Recent reports suggest talks with RCD Mallorca have broken down without a deal being agreed.
Barcelona’s financial situation may prove a significant obstacle to any potential deal, while Atlético Madrid may face competition from other European clubs. Galatasaray, however, can offer Brandt Champions League football and a key role in a team aiming to defend their domestic title. The club confirmed their interest after winning the league title earlier this month.
Should Brandt opt for a move to Galatasaray, it would represent a significant coup for the Turkish side and further enhance their growing reputation as a force in European football. The move would also provide Brandt with a new challenge in a different league, allowing him to continue playing at a high level.
