Galatasaray have officially denied reports suggesting an agreement with Bayern Munich for the transfer of Jamal Musiala. The Turkish club released a statement addressing speculation that had surfaced in Turkish media earlier this month, firmly dismissing any connection to the Germany international.
“The reports that our club has reached an agreement with Jamal Musiala and Bayern Munich are not true. This is hereby brought to the public’s attention,” Galatasaray stated, according to reports from Turkish outlets. The initial links had raised considerable surprise given Musiala’s status as a key player for one of Europe’s top clubs.
Musiala, 23, is currently recovering from a minor procedure to remove a plate from his foot, a remnant of surgery following a significant injury sustained last year. The timing of the surgery followed Germany’s early exit from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, allowing Musiala to address the lingering issue during the off-season.
Bayern Munich will be hoping to have Musiala fit for their competitive return in the DFL-Supercup against Borussia Dortmund on August 22nd. The midfielder has become a pivotal figure in the Bavarian side since breaking into the first team, quickly establishing himself as one of the Bundesliga’s brightest talents. He has made 95 appearances for Bayern, scoring 17 goals and providing 16 assists.
Galatasaray, meanwhile, are preparing for their own campaign after a successful season which saw them win the Turkish Süper Lig title. The club have been active in the transfer market, bringing in several new faces as they look to compete both domestically and in the Champions League.
