TSG Hoffenheim have confirmed a long-term contract extension for managing director for sport Andreas Schicker, the Bundesliga club announced on Wednesday. While the exact length of the deal was not disclosed by Hoffenheim, Sky Germany reports the extension will keep Schicker at the club until 2030. The news arrives alongside the appointment of Daniel Förderer as a second managing director, responsible for the club’s commercial operations.
Shareholder Dietmar Hopp praised Schicker’s impact since taking on the role, highlighting his “decisive impulses” and consistent approach to sporting development. Hopp also noted Schicker’s leadership during challenging periods while serving as the sole managing director, emphasizing the extension guarantees stability and continued pursuit of shared ambitions. Schicker’s initial appointment came as Hoffenheim sought to restructure their sporting direction.
Daniel Förderer’s arrival is intended to bolster the club’s commercial infrastructure. Chairman André Kreuzwieser explained that Förderer’s expertise will be crucial in further professionalizing Hoffenheim’s structures, specifically focusing on efficiency and sustainability within the organization. Förderer will oversee marketing, sales, and digital operations in addition to the broader commercial aspects of the club.
Schicker joined Hoffenheim in 2023, tasked with navigating a period of transition for the club. Prior to his role in Hoffenheim, Schicker held a prominent position at RB Salzburg, where he was instrumental in identifying and developing young talent, contributing to their success in both domestic and European competitions. His track record in player recruitment and strategic planning made him a desirable candidate for Hoffenheim.
The dual appointments signal Hoffenheim’s commitment to both on-field performance and sustainable off-field growth. By securing Schicker’s long-term future and adding Förderer’s commercial acumen, the club aims to establish a solid foundation for continued success in the Bundesliga and beyond.
