Inter Milan’s pursuit of Udinese defender Oumar Solet is currently stalled, with no new offers submitted to the Serie A club in the last week, according to reports in Italy. The 23-year-old recently returned from a vacation in Brazil, where he spent time with former Inter striker Adriano, but his transfer situation remains unresolved.
Inter initially proposed a fee of around €20 million for Solet, but Udinese rejected the offer, valuing their player at a higher price. This valuation is understood to be known by Inter, and both the player and his representatives are now aware that negotiations may extend into the first week of July. The Nerazzurri have recently been focused on other transfer targets, particularly the pursuit of Albert Gudmundsson, which may have contributed to the delay.
Adding complexity to the situation, Atletico Madrid has expressed interest in Solet, though they have not yet made a formal bid to Udinese. The potential for a competitive offer from the Spanish club could influence Udinese’s willingness to negotiate with Inter, or potentially push them to accept a bid from Atletico. It remains to be seen whether the prospect of competition from Madrid will prompt Inter to increase their offer.
Solet established himself as a key player for Udinese last season, making 31 appearances across all competitions. He joined the club permanently in July 2022 after a loan spell from Lyon, and has become a regular fixture in their backline. Inter are looking to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new season, and Solet has been identified as a potential target to provide depth and competition. A move to Inter would represent a step up in Solet’s career, offering him the chance to compete in the Champions League and challenge for Serie A title.
