Liverpool have announced the signing of Víctor Muñoz from Spanish side Osasuna, subject to international clearance and a work permit. The clubs jointly confirmed an agreement had been reached on Thursday, making Muñoz the first summer arrival at Anfield.
According to reports, the transfer fee is €40 million. The 22-year-old Spanish international enjoyed a breakthrough season with Osasuna, scoring seven goals and providing five assists. His performances had also attracted interest from Newcastle United, but Liverpool moved quickly to secure his signature.
Múñoz came through the Real Madrid academy before joining Osasuna, and the Spanish giants will benefit from the deal, receiving 50% of the transfer fee – a reported €20 million. He established himself as a key player for Osasuna last season, demonstrating pace, skill, and an eye for goal.
The arrival of Muñoz comes amidst changes at Liverpool, with Arne Slot departing to be replaced by Andoni Iraola as manager. The signing suggests Liverpool are looking to add attacking firepower to their squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign. Muñoz’s ability to play on either wing provides Iraola with tactical flexibility.
The transfer is seen as a significant coup for Liverpool, bringing in a promising young talent with experience in La Liga. Muñoz will be looking to make an immediate impact at Anfield and establish himself as a key player for the Reds. His signing signals Liverpool's intent to compete at the highest level next season.
