Manchester City are on the verge of completing a transfer for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, with negotiations now at an advanced stage. According to TEAMtalk, the clubs are preparing for a final round of talks, and medical staff are on standby in Kansas City, where the England team is based.
City’s initial bid of £110 million up front, plus £11 million in add-ons, was rejected by Forest last week, with owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly determined to secure a British record fee for the 23-year-old. A new and improved offer, potentially exceeding the £130 million Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak, is expected this week.
Anderson has made his desire to join City clear, even with the recent departure of Pep Guardiola as manager. Personal terms are not expected to be a barrier to the transfer. His representatives have reportedly been urging Forest to facilitate the move to bring a swift resolution to the saga.
Should an agreement be reached, Anderson could undergo a medical while on international duty with England. The England setup, based at Swope Park in Kansas City, are aware of the situation and are prepared to accommodate a medical examination. Thomas Tuchel, the new City manager, is keen to finalize the deal quickly to remove any uncertainty surrounding the player.
Anderson has consistently impressed for Forest since joining from Newcastle for £40 million, developing into a dynamic young talent in the Premier League. His energy, technical ability, and passing range have attracted City’s attention, and he is now considered a key target for Tuchel.
For Nottingham Forest, the sale of Anderson would represent a significant profit, potentially in the region of £80-90 million. The club is actively pursuing midfield replacements, including Lucas Bergvall, and are reportedly keen to add two new midfielders this summer. City sources are expressing confidence that the transfer will be completed in the coming days, marking the culmination of extensive work by sporting director Hugo Viana.
