AS Monaco have completed the signing of Portuguese left-back Flavio Nazinho from Cercle Bruges on a four-year contract, the club confirmed. The transfer fee is reported to be around €5 million.
Nazinho developed through the youth ranks at Sporting Portugal but didn’t establish himself in the first team before moving to Belgium. He became a regular starter for Cercle Bruges this past season, making 32 appearances across all competitions. His consistent performances at left-back prompted interest from Monaco, who were seeking reinforcement in that position.
The arrival of Nazinho coincides with the departure of Caio Henrique to Ajax Amsterdam. The Dutch club officially announced the signing of the Brazilian international on Monday for a fee of €10 million, plus up to €3 million in potential bonuses. Ajax’s technical director, Jordi Cruyff, stated that the club had been working “very hard for some time” to secure Henrique, praising his experience and leadership qualities, and anticipating an immediate impact.
Monaco’s transfer activity signals the beginning of a squad overhaul in the principality. The club is clearly looking to reshape its defensive options, with Nazinho brought in to compete for a starting role and Henrique departing for a significant fee. This move allows Monaco to both strengthen their squad and generate funds for further investment during the transfer window.
Nazinho’s ability to quickly adapt to Ligue 1 will be crucial for Monaco’s ambitions, while Henrique’s experience will be valuable for Ajax as they look to challenge for domestic and European honours.
