Paris Saint-Germain will not be able to celebrate their Ligue 1 title win at the Parc des Princes, and a proposed alternative at the Stade Jean-Bouin, home of Paris FC, has been rejected, according to reports in Le Parisien. PSG secured their fourteenth French league title with a 2-0 victory over Lens on Wednesday, but the club were informed by the police prefecture that a trophy presentation at their usual stadium would not be permitted.
The Ligue 1 governing body, the LFP, then approached Paris FC to explore the possibility of hosting the ceremony at their ground. However, the club reportedly refused the request, with sources stating that there will be no trophy presentation at the Stade Jean-Bouin. This decision comes as Paris FC are planning their own end-of-season celebrations, including a farewell event for Julien Lopez, the club’s longest-serving player, whose contract is expiring after nine years of service.
Lopez’s departure will be marked with a special event, and the club has also planned a fireworks display. The situation leaves PSG searching for an alternative venue to officially lift the Ligue 1 trophy. Reports suggest the club may now combine the celebration with any potential celebrations surrounding their Champions League campaign.
Luis Enrique’s side finished the season strongly, securing the title with a comfortable win at Lens. The club has dominated French football in recent years, and this latest title win further cements their position as the leading force in Ligue 1. The refusal of Paris FC to host the celebration, while unusual, highlights the rivalry between the two clubs in the French capital and allows Paris FC to focus on their own end-of-season events.
