Vinicius Junior’s future at Real Madrid is uncertain as contract renewal talks remain stalled, with the club adopting a firm stance on salary negotiations according to reports from Spain. The Brazilian forward has entered the final year of his current deal, prompting urgency from Madrid to secure his long-term commitment following his participation in the 2026 World Cup.
Negotiations have been ongoing for several months, but Spanish reporter Abraham Romero claims that Real Madrid are “standing firm” on their existing proposal. Prior to the World Cup, the club offered Vinicius a net salary of €20 million per season, a raise from his current €17 million. However, the player is reportedly seeking a figure closer to €30 million.
Romero suggests Vinicius may have positioned himself in a difficult situation, stating that without comparable offers from other clubs, he may be forced to accept Madrid’s terms or risk being sold this summer, despite his desire to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu. The player currently has no offers on the table that match the stature of Real Madrid.
To break the deadlock, a meeting between Vinicius and Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is expected upon the player’s return from holiday. Romero believes this direct conversation is crucial, as negotiating teams have reached an impasse. Pérez is anticipated to reiterate the club’s current offer, potentially with a minimal renewal bonus, but is expected to hold firm on the core terms.
Romero anticipates that Vinicius will ultimately renew his contract, despite having tested his market value. While his value is high, no other offers currently match the combined sporting and financial package offered by Real Madrid. The club are also keen to avoid losing the player on a free transfer next summer, making a resolution this window a priority. Vinicius has become a key player for Real Madrid since joining from Flamengo in 2018, contributing significantly to their Champions League and La Liga successes.
