Tottenham Hotspur are awaiting final approval for the transfer of Manchester City’s Savinho, while Lucas Bergvall is expected to leave the club this summer, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano.
Spurs have been among the biggest spenders in European football this summer, securing the signings of Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke, alongside free transfers for Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka. However, Roberto De Zerbi is also looking to trim his squad to further fund potential acquisitions.
Bergvall, a 20-year-old midfielder, has informed Tottenham of his desire for regular first-team football. He arrived at the club with potential, but the recent additions of Tonali and Fernandes have diminished his prospects for significant playing time. Nottingham Forest have already had a bid rejected for the player, with the club reportedly demanding £50 million for his services. Newcastle United are also in contention, offering a potentially more ambitious project, though Forest currently lead financially.
Romano reports that Bergvall believes a move is necessary to ensure he receives consistent minutes, rather than remaining on the bench. The sale of Bergvall would provide a financial boost to Tottenham as they pursue other targets, most notably Savinho.
Savinho, currently at Manchester City, has been a long-term target for Tottenham, with interest dating back to last year. Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, and the Brazilian winger is reportedly eager to join De Zerbi’s squad. The primary obstacle to the deal is City’s need to find a replacement for Savinho before sanctioning his departure. Romano states that Tottenham have been consistently linked with Savinho since June and remain committed to securing his signature.
The arrival of Savinho would further bolster Tottenham’s attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League season. The club’s active summer transfer window suggests a clear ambition to compete at the highest level.
