Tottenham Hotspur have expressed interest in West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville, potentially hijacking a move for the player that Manchester United had been pursuing, according to reports from Ben Jacobs. This development comes as Manchester United’s transfer window faces increasing turbulence, having already withdrawn from deals for Mateus Fernandes and seen moves for Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali falter.
Manchester United quickly secured the signing of Ederson as their first addition of the summer, but plans to bolster their midfield with Anderson and Tonali have been shelved due to valuation disagreements. The club deemed Nottingham Forest’s £120 million-plus asking price for Anderson excessive, while Tonali has reportedly entered talks with Tottenham despite previous interest from United.
United’s pursuit of West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes is also facing complications, with the club informing the Hammers they will not meet their £80 million valuation, as reported by The Mirror. This stance risks losing Fernandes to other interested parties, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Summerville emerged as a potential target for United after data analysis highlighted his qualities, but Tottenham have now ‘called’ West Ham to explore a deal, particularly if their attempt to sign Savinho from Manchester City falls through. The Brazilian winger is reportedly open to a move to Spurs, with club-to-club talks progressing and a deal anticipated to cost around £60 million.
Should the Savinho transfer not materialize, Tottenham, now under the management of Roberto De Zerbi, could intensify their pursuit of Summerville, presenting a direct challenge to Manchester United’s transfer plans. The situation underscores a shifting landscape in the transfer market, with Tottenham demonstrating increased ambition under their new manager. The outcome of the Savinho deal will likely determine whether United are able to compete for Summerville’s signature.
