Troyes are poised to sign goalkeeper Patrick Beach from Melbourne City, according to L’Est Éclair. The Australian shot-stopper is expected to arrive in Troyes in the coming days as the Ligue 1 club seeks competition for current goalkeeper Zacharie Bouchet following the departure of Nicolas Lemaître to Rennes.
Beach, who will soon turn 23, has impressed with the Australian national team, known as the Socceroos, recently featuring in four matches during the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign. He recorded two clean sheets during those matches and was not at fault for the goal conceded during their round of sixteen exit to Egypt, having been substituted before the penalty shootout.
The move is facilitated by the City Group’s multi-club ownership model, with Troyes benefiting from a pre-existing relationship with Melbourne City. In 2022, Patrick Kisnorbo was appointed as Troyes manager, a move stemming from the same network, though that appointment ultimately did not prove successful. The City Group’s structure allows for streamlined transfers between its affiliated clubs.
Interestingly, a beach in the Australian city of Port Phillip has been named in honour of Patrick Beach, a detail noted by L’Est Éclair. Beyond this local recognition, Beach is establishing himself as a promising talent in Australian football and will now look to gain experience in a European league. This transfer presents an opportunity for him to compete at a higher level and further develop his career. Troyes, recently promoted back to Ligue 1, are bolstering their squad ahead of the new season, and Beach’s arrival adds depth and potential to their goalkeeping options. The signing could prove to be a shrewd piece of business for the club, providing a capable understudy and potential future number one.
