Juventus are undergoing a period of restructuring following a disappointing season that saw them miss out on Champions League qualification, with John Elkann, the CEO of Exor, taking a leading role in shaping the club’s future. Elkann is scheduled to meet with club employees and key collaborators to seek a compromise aimed at improving the efficiency of the club’s structure.
The meeting comes after a period of tension, though reports suggest the atmosphere has improved somewhat in recent days. Both manager Luciano Spalletti and CEO Giovanni Comolli have publicly expressed their desire to build a competitive team capable of challenging for trophies. Elkann will reportedly seek a middle ground to avoid abandoning a project after less than a year.
According to sources, Elkann may ask Comolli to reduce his direct involvement in player transfers, which have often been conducted with the assistance of external intermediaries, and to be more open to dialogue with Spalletti. Spalletti, who enjoys a strong relationship with Elkann, may also be asked to show more flexibility regarding player profiles proposed by the technical area, especially given the lack of Champions League revenue.
Giorgio Chiellini, the Director of Football Strategy, is also expected to play a more significant role. While not directly involved in technical decisions, Chiellini was instrumental in securing Spalletti’s appointment, renewing Kenan Yildiz’s contract, and extending Spalletti’s contract before the season’s end. Elkann will likely expect Chiellini to effectively support the sporting area. The aim is to build a winning Juventus, and Elkann has stressed the urgency of the situation. The club is keen to avoid further upheaval and establish a cohesive strategy for future success.
