Everton have reached a full agreement with Chelsea for the permanent transfer of winger Tyrique George, according to TEAMtalk sources. The deal is worth an initial £18million, with a further £6million potentially payable in add-ons. This follows a loan spell for George at Everton during the latter half of the 2025/26 season.
Everton had initially declined to trigger the buy option in George’s loan agreement, which was valued at around £25million. However, they re-entered negotiations with Chelsea and have secured a more favourable financial arrangement. The 20-year-old reportedly enjoyed his time at Goodison Park and was keen to make the move permanent.
George has been highly regarded by Everton staff despite limited playing time last season. His arrival is expected to provide competition and depth in the wide areas for David Moyes’ side. He joined Chelsea’s academy and has progressed through their youth ranks, demonstrating potential for development.
The completion of George’s transfer is likely to pave the way for Dwight McNeil to leave Everton. West Ham United have expressed interest in the 26-year-old, viewing him as a potential replacement for Crysencio Summerville, who is a target for Manchester United. McNeil was previously close to a move to Crystal Palace in January, but the transfer ultimately fell through.
McNeil has been a valuable player for Everton at times, notably contributing to their efforts to avoid relegation in recent seasons. However, with George’s arrival, Everton appear willing to allow McNeil to pursue a new challenge, and West Ham are currently considered the frontrunners for his signature. The move would allow McNeil to return to London, where he almost joined Palace earlier this year.
