Arsenal have officially signed defender Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of £34.5m, the club confirmed. The move follows a successful loan spell for the 24-year-old, where he made 39 appearances as Arsenal secured the Premier League title. Hincapie has signed a five-year contract with the Gunners.
Arsenal have also confirmed several departures this summer. Jakub Kiwior has completed a permanent move to Porto for £14.7m, with the potential for a further £4.2m in add-ons. The Polish defender spent last season on loan with the Portuguese champions, featuring 39 times as they won the Primeira Liga.
Goalkeeper Karl Hein has also made his loan move to Werder Bremen permanent for a fee of £2.6m. Despite limited playing time – only two appearances – due to an injury sustained towards the end of the season, Werder Bremen have stated Hein will be their first-choice goalkeeper next season following the departure of Mio Backhaus.
These moves come as Arsenal look to build on their Premier League success and challenge further in the Champions League, where they were runners-up last season. Manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly considering upgrades in the left wing position, with Morgan Rogers among the potential targets. The club has agreed to sell Leandro Trossard to Besiktas.
Further player movement could involve Gabriel Martinelli, who enters the final year of his contract, and Gabriel Jesus, though their futures remain uncertain. Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, indicating a potential strengthening of their midfield options. The club is weighing options to add another striker to their ranks. These adjustments aim to solidify Arsenal’s position as a top European force.
