Ansu Fati is set to complete a permanent transfer to AS Monaco for a fee of €11m, according to reports from barcacentre. The move comes after Fati accepted that the arrival of Anthony Gordon at Barcelona significantly reduces his chances of regular first-team football under new manager Hansi Flick.
Barcelona recently secured Gordon from Newcastle United for €80m, a deal that raised eyebrows given the club’s well-documented financial difficulties and La Liga’s salary cap regulations. Despite La Liga suggesting Barcelona will be within their spending limit this summer, Cadena SER reports that the club still needs to generate between €30-50m in sales to register Gordon, alongside potential new signings Julian Alvarez and Bernardo Silva. This requirement stems from the need to balance incoming transfers with existing financial constraints.
Alvarez remains a priority for Barcelona as they search for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who departed the club this summer. However, there are doubts about the club's ability to finance the deal, as well as Atletico Madrid’s willingness to negotiate a transfer. Silva, a free agent after his time at Manchester City, has also reached an agreement in principle with Barcelona, but is weighing offers from both the Catalan club and Atletico Madrid.
Beyond Fati, Barcelona may consider further departures to reach their sales target. Roony Bardghji is expected to leave due to limited playing opportunities, while Marc Casado, Alejandro Balde, and Jules Kounde could also be sold if suitable offers arrive. However, reports indicate that none of those three players have actively expressed a desire to leave the club at this time. The need to generate funds highlights the ongoing financial challenges at Barcelona, even as they attempt to rebuild their squad for the upcoming season. Successfully navigating these sales will be crucial for Barcelona’s ambitions in the transfer market and their ability to compete at the highest level.
