Fiorentina and River Plate have reached an agreement for the loan of Lucas Beltran, though the player has yet to formally accept the move, according to reports from Argentina. Beltran spent the most recent season on loan at Valencia, but appears set to return to his native Argentina.
River Plate are reportedly willing to pay €500,000 for the loan period, with a further €6.7 million due next year to make the transfer permanent. The agreement includes a clause allowing Fiorentina to retain 50% ownership of the player’s economic rights, according to Argentine market expert Luis Merlo.
This structure would allow Fiorentina to continue to benefit financially from Beltran’s future development and any potential future transfer. River Plate would acquire the sporting rights to the player, while economic rights would be split between the two clubs, ensuring the Italian side receives half of any future transfer fee.
Beltran originally joined Fiorentina from River Plate in 2023, seeking more consistent first-team opportunities in European football. While he showed promise during his time in Italy, a loan spell at Valencia followed as he sought regular game time. The proposed return to River Plate offers him a familiar environment and the chance to re-establish himself as a key player. This move could provide Beltran with a platform to regain form and potentially attract further interest from European clubs in the future, while also offering Fiorentina a potential financial return on their initial investment.
