ACF Fiorentina have announced the permanent signing of midfielder Arthur Atta from Udinese Calcio, the club confirmed on their official channels. The 21-year-old joins the Viola in a deal reportedly worth €30 million plus bonuses. Atta has signed a contract with Fiorentina, though the length of the deal was not disclosed.
Atta, born in Rennes, France on January 14, 2003, came through the youth ranks at Metz before joining Udinese. Last season, the French midfielder established himself as a key player for Udinese, making 36 appearances across Serie A and Coppa Italia, scoring six goals and providing four assists. His performances attracted interest from several clubs, ultimately leading to a move to Florence.
The transfer represents a significant investment for Fiorentina as they look to bolster their midfield options under new manager Fabio Grosso. Grosso, appointed earlier this month, will be hoping Atta can provide both creativity and goal threat from the centre of the pitch. Fiorentina finished eighth in Serie A last season and will be aiming to improve on that performance in the upcoming campaign.
Speaking after completing his move, Atta expressed his delight at joining Fiorentina. “I am very happy, arriving here is an important step,” he said. “I can’t wait to play and wear this shirt. I dream of a great season, I am sure we will do well.” He also revealed positive conversations with sporting director Giovanni Paratici and Grosso were key to his decision. “I spoke a lot with Paratici and the coach, I am sure this is the right project for me.”
Atta cited Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba as players he admires, and identified areas for personal improvement. He described himself as a “versatile player who loves to find space, and is technical,” but acknowledged a need to improve his finishing and aerial ability. The signing of Atta adds further depth and quality to Fiorentina’s squad as they prepare for the new Serie A season, and he is expected to play a pivotal role in Grosso’s plans.
