Mason Greenwood is poised to complete a move to Fenerbahce from Marseille in a deal worth €45 million, according to reports in Italy. The transfer is nearing completion after Fenerbahce made a decisive offer for the forward, who previously attracted interest from Roma.
Greenwood spent the last two seasons with Marseille, where he enjoyed a prolific spell following a loan from Getafe. He scored 21 goals and provided six assists in 34 Ligue 1 appearances during the 2022-23 season, and followed that up with 16 goals and seven assists in 32 league games last season. His performances also extended to European competitions, with three goals and one assist in eight Champions League matches, and six goals and three assists in four Coupe de France games.
The 22-year-old initially rose to prominence as a product of Manchester United’s academy, making over 129 appearances for the club across all competitions. His career with United was disrupted by off-field issues, leading to a loan spell at Getafe and then a permanent transfer to Marseille.
Fenerbahce are reportedly offering Greenwood a contract that runs until June 30, 2030, with an annual salary of €8 million plus €2 million in potential bonuses. The clubs are currently finalizing the remaining details of the agreement, and Greenwood is expected to undergo a medical in Turkey imminently. The move represents a significant investment for Fenerbahce as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season. This transfer could also signal a shift in Fenerbahce’s ambitions, aiming for greater success both domestically and in European competitions.
