Fiorentina have agreed a loan deal with Bournemouth for Spanish winger Alex Jimenez, with an option to buy for €20 million, according to reports in Italy. The move sees Jimenez return to Serie A, where he previously featured for AC Milan. The transfer was facilitated by Fiorentina’s sporting director, Fabio Paratici, and provides coach Vincenzo Grosso with another attacking option for the upcoming season.
Jimenez, born in 2005, was recently signed permanently by Bournemouth after a spell on loan. He enjoyed a breakthrough season with AC Milan during the 2024-25 campaign under manager Paulo Fonseca, becoming a regular starter. However, his opportunities diminished following the arrival of Massimiliano Allegri, reportedly due to a disagreement between the player and the coach.
The loan deal allows Fiorentina to assess Jimenez’s potential before committing to a permanent transfer. The option to buy, set at €20 million, provides the club with financial flexibility. Jimenez has already arrived in Florence and is currently undergoing a medical examination at the Viola’s training centre, having completed initial physical tests.
Fiorentina have been active in the transfer market, having also recently secured the signing of Atta from Udinese. The addition of Jimenez further strengthens their squad as they prepare for the new season. The club will be hoping Jimenez can recapture the form he displayed under Fonseca and become a key contributor in Serie A.
This move represents a chance for Jimenez to reignite his career after a disrupted period at AC Milan. A successful loan spell at Fiorentina could lead to a permanent transfer and establish him as a prominent player in Italian football. The option to buy suggests Fiorentina see significant potential in the young Spaniard.
