Nicolò Zaniolo is currently not training with Udinese, according to Sky Sports, raising questions about his future with the club despite recently agreeing to a contract extension. Udinese began their pre-season training camp under coach Kosta Runjaić at the Dino Bruseschi sports center, preparing for a more intensive period in Lienz, Austria, but Zaniolo has yet to participate.
Following his permanent transfer from Galatasaray on June 30th, Udinese and Zaniolo had reached an agreement to extend his contract, increasing his salary from €1.2 million to €1.8 million. However, several bureaucratic issues remain unresolved, leading Zaniolo to reportedly submit a medical certificate citing recent health problems. He has not been seen at the Bruseschi center with his teammates.
This absence has potentially created tension with Udinese, who have not yet issued an official statement regarding the situation. Sky Sports reports that the club is aware of the medical certificate but is awaiting further clarification.
Juventus, long-time admirers of the 1999-born midfielder, are observing the situation with interest. The club recently contacted Zaniolo’s agent, Claudio Vigorelli, to explore his potential availability, although he is not currently considered a priority for Juventus sporting directors Giovanni Carnevali and Marco Ottolini.
Zaniolo rediscovered his form last season with Udinese, scoring five goals and providing five assists in 32 appearances. Notably, he scored against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in October 2025, shortly after Igor Tudor’s dismissal and during Massimo Brambilla’s interim management. His performance that day likely contributed to Juventus’s continued interest in the player.
This situation could lead to a potential transfer window saga, with Juventus poised to capitalize should the issues at Udinese prove insurmountable.
