Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has been offered to AC Milan, though securing a deal for the player may prove financially challenging for the Italian club, according to TEAMtalk. The move comes amidst reports of tension between Foden and Manchester City, following a period of inconsistent form for the England international.
Foden experienced a difficult last year, failing to consistently feature in the Premier League and subsequently being left out of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. Intermediaries have reportedly presented Foden to ‘several clubs’ as a potential transfer target, with Milan emerging as one of the interested parties.
AC Milan are currently navigating a complex transfer window, with Rafael Leao reportedly seeking a move to the Premier League. Foden is valued in the region of €50-60million (£42.5-£51.1m), a similar price point to that of Leao. Milan recently broke their transfer record to sign Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain for around £60million, potentially limiting their capacity for further significant investment.
TEAMtalk insider Graeme Bailey suggests that Milan would struggle to finance another high-profile signing this summer, given their recent expenditure. While Galatasaray were previously linked with Foden, sources indicate they are no longer in contention for his signature. The situation surrounding Leao remains unclear, with Tottenham Hotspur emerging as a potential destination for the Portuguese winger.
Italian journalist Daniele Longo reports that Leao is keen to join the Premier League and would consider a £60million offer from Tottenham. He stated that Leao is “willing to wait for Tottenham” and that the club is a “welcome destination.” Should Leao depart, it could potentially free up funds for Milan to pursue Foden, though financial constraints remain a significant obstacle. The potential transfer could allow Foden to reignite his career, while Milan would add a talented midfielder to their ranks.
