Eintracht Frankfurt have officially signed Noel Aseko from FC Bayern, the club confirmed hours before a dominant 7-1 pre-season victory over FC Gießen. The friendly served as the first outing under returning manager Adi Hütter, who previously oversaw a match against Gießen seven years ago. Details of the transfer fee were not disclosed by either club.
Aseko’s arrival represents a significant addition for Frankfurt as they prepare for the 2026/27 Bundesliga season. The player returns to the club after a spell with Bayern, where his playing time was limited, according to reports from Sky Sports. He will be expected to bolster Frankfurt’s attacking options.
During the match against Gießen, Jonathan Burkardt scored twice in the first half, a notable performance given his previously reported strained relationship with former coach Albert Riera. Younes Ebnoutalib, a winter signing for Frankfurt, also found the net, opening the scoring in the 10th minute against his former club. Ebnoutalib’s appearance came despite his recent participation in the World Cup quarter-final with Morocco.
Further goals came from Marvin Dills, Malik Pimpong on his debut, Love Arrhov, and Keita Kosugi, establishing a 4-0 lead for Frankfurt at halftime. Hütter opted to field an entirely different lineup in the second half, demonstrating the depth of the squad. Gießen, who play in the Oberliga Hessen and were in the same division as Frankfurt’s reserve team last season, managed a late consolation goal.
Frankfurt have four more friendlies scheduled before their competitive season begins with a DFB-Pokal match against SC St. Tönis. Their Bundesliga campaign will start with an away fixture against Union Berlin. The acquisition of Aseko and the strong pre-season showing suggest Frankfurt are aiming for a strong start to the new season.
