Davide Frattesi is expected to depart Inter this summer after a largely unsuccessful season with the club, according to reports from Italian journalist sources. The midfielder was an unused substitute in Inter’s final Serie A match of the season against Verona, with even third-choice goalkeeper Davide Di Gennaro and 2007-born youth player Mosconi given minutes before him.
Frattesi’s time at Inter has been marked by inconsistency and injury issues since a promising moment scoring a decisive goal against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final in May 2024. He has failed to score for the Nerazzurri since that match, and has struggled to integrate fully into Simone Inzaghi’s squad. Despite joking with teammates on the bench during the Verona match, his lack of playing time signaled a likely end to his spell at the club.
The 25-year-old was close to joining Nottingham Forest last summer, but a potential transfer failed to materialize. At that time, Inter were seeking a fee of around €30 million for the player. However, following his difficult season, the club will now likely accept a bid in the region of €20-25 million.
Frattesi joined Inter from Sassuolo and while his peak moment with the club remains his goal against Barcelona, his overall contribution has not met expectations. The separation is expected to be amicable, allowing both parties to move forward. This move will free up funds for Inter as they look to reshape their squad for next season, and offer Frattesi the chance to reignite his career elsewhere. A return to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest remains a possibility, but other clubs could also emerge as potential suitors.
