Fulham are preparing a bid to sign Jonah Kusi-Asare permanently from Bayern Munich, despite the forward making limited appearances during his loan spell with the Premier League club. The 18-year-old Swedish striker joined Fulham on loan last summer, with a reported €4 million loan fee paid to Bayern, but the London club are hesitant to meet the original €12 million purchase option.
According to Sky Germany, Fulham are now attempting to negotiate a lower fee with the German champions for Kusi-Asare. The player has featured in 10 senior matches for Fulham this season, but his impact has been minimal, leading the club to reassess the initial terms of the agreement. Despite the limited game time, Fulham clearly see potential in the young forward and are keen to secure his services beyond the end of the current campaign.
Kusi-Asare joined Bayern Munich in February 2024 from AIK, with the transfer reportedly costing the Bundesliga side €3.5 million. He signed a contract with Bayern that runs until 2027, giving the club a strong negotiating position. However, Bayern may be open to a sale if Fulham can present a suitable offer, potentially allowing them to recoup a profit on a player who hasn’t yet broken into their first team.
Fulham’s pursuit of Kusi-Asare suggests a long-term vision for their attacking options, potentially viewing him as a developing talent capable of contributing in future seasons. The club’s willingness to negotiate a lower fee indicates a cautious approach to the transfer market, seeking value for money as they continue to establish themselves in the Premier League. Securing Kusi-Asare could provide Fulham with a promising young attacker, while also offering Bayern a financial return on a player who hasn’t yet established himself in Bavaria.
