Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho has turned down a potential move to Aston Villa, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The development came during negotiations between the two clubs regarding Morgan Rogers’ transfer to Stamford Bridge, with Villa reportedly enquiring about Garnacho’s availability.
Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Garnacho this summer, with a price tag initially set at £90 million, though the club would consider offers around £60 million. Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United, but has not consistently featured in the first team, prompting the Blues to consider his departure.
Romano reports that Garnacho’s priority is a transfer to AS Roma, with ongoing talks between the Italian club and Chelsea. Roma have initially proposed a loan deal with a mandatory buy clause, while Chelsea are seeking a permanent and guaranteed exit for the player. The clubs are currently negotiating the terms of a potential agreement.
Rogers, meanwhile, is set to undergo a medical with Chelsea after the Blues agreed to a £117 million deal with Villa, a British record transfer fee. Arsenal were also interested in the England international, but Rogers ultimately chose to move to Chelsea. The acquisition of Rogers indicates Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s intent to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season.
The situation with Garnacho suggests Chelsea are actively reshaping their squad, and Roma’s strong interest could provide a suitable solution for both the player and the club.
